June 2009 Birthday ‘a.k.a Cake Ride’ Follow-up
Hey Everyone! I just wanted to put a post out there to say THANK YOU!!! June’s birthday ride was our biggest to date. We had 35 people show up to celebrate, socialize, ride and eat cake!
As the organizer of the ride, I was so happy to see the group grow and especially happy to see a lot of new faces in the crowd. But what touched me the most was the camaraderie, and the general good cheer.
To give you an idea of what I am talking about, we had a couple mechanical failures today on the ride. One guy had a loose spoke and another had a flat tire…each incident happening within a block of each other. Everyone who has ever come to this ride knows…this is a NO DROP ride. That means if something happens to someone, like a mechanical error…we stop and wait. But what was even more impressive was how quickly everyone around jumped right in and offered a helping hand. It was really nice to see.
After the ride, we went back to Hampton Inn where we had cake & coffee. We sang happy birthday to Di Lan, Dion, Albert & Steve….and then just sat around and socialized. It was a nice time and I’m glad I could be there. I hope to see all of you again next month…and possibly some more new faces.

Birthday Bash Rides…(a.k.a. Cake Ride)….goes on the 1st Sunday of every month. All the dates are posted on the rides/events calendar for the year. I hope you can make it out to one of them Ron!

The birthday mash was great.. I can hardly wait to assist another rider in having a great birth day. Yes, I was slightly moved.. The cake was good..
