Calling out to all cyclists… We’re celebrating your Birthday!!

Is your birthday in August? Or perhaps you just love to eat cake?

Come celebrate any cyclists whose birthdays are in August with BikingLasVegas.com! There will be cake, coffee and a whole bunch of fun! (FYI- It doesn’t have to be your birthday month to still come ride with us and eat celebrate!)

Join the Las Vegas Valley Bike Club for the 7th Annual International Ride of Silence.

This will be Las Vegas’ 5th Annual Ride of Silence
May 20th at 6:00 pm

-Southwest Corner of W. Sahara and S. Decatur
Meet in the parking lot for the 10 Mile ride.
Registration begins at 6:00 pm, Ride begins at 7:00 pm

The Ride of Silence Will Not Be Quiet

On May 20, 2009, at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

Tonight we number many but ride as one
In honor of those not with us, friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, sons
With helmets on tight and heads down low,
We ride in silence, cautious and slow
The wheels start spinning in the lead pack
But tonight we ride and no one attacks
The dark sunglasses cover our tears
Remembering those we held so dear
Tonight’s ride is to make others aware
The road is there for all to share
To those not with us or by our side,
May God be your partner on your final ride

Join us in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.

Corbin Crawmer - Male 8 years old–DOD 7/04/2008
Keanu Irving Lee Davila - Male 16 years old–DOD 8/19/2008
Walter Hill - Male 48 years old–DOD 8/22/2008
Bryan Russell Lewis - Male 55 years old–DOD 3/14/2009

MANDATORY: Everyone MUST wear their cycling helmets and obey the bicycle laws. Every bike must be equipped with sufficient lighting for night riding, head light and tail light, no exceptions.
