For Women Only: Goldilocks Ride in Las Vegas
Monday, August 30th, 2010
I first heard about the Goldilocks ride from one of our members, Melissa Laughter. After looking into it a bit further, I’ve been in contact with Dani Lassiter, the organizer of this event, and she is very excited to be putting on a fully supported ride for the women of Las Vegas.
What is Goldilocks?
Goldilocks is a fully supported, non-competitive, women only, cycling event. From novice or experienced riders alike, Goldilocks is a fabulous opportunity to spend the day with your girlfriends while enjoying/conquering a gorgeous ride.
What makes the Goldilocks Ride such a neat concept?
Dani’s passion for creating a warm and welcoming cycling event for all levels of women riders. Dani knows what it feels like to start from scratch on the bike. “About 4 years ago I fell down my basement stairs and destroyed my ankle. 3 plates and 15 screws later, my physical therapist strongly recommended cycling as a way to keep myself and my ankle in good shape. I started riding on my cruiser, then my husband’s hybrid, and found I really did enjoy it, especially when riding with friends! I started begging all of my friends, sisters, even my own mother to ride with me.”
During Dani’s journey into cycling, she participated in the Little Red Riding Hood event, the largest women’s only ride in Utah. That ride inspired her to create a ride that was a “fun and friendly place to start.” A place where you could ride a cruiser, a hybrid or a road bike. Whichever bike you prefer, the Goldilocks ride welcomes you.
