Nutritional Calorie / Cost Analysis Spreadsheet
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009OK…as I get deeper into endurance riding, I’ve become a larger geek than what I ever thought I could be!! I’ve been studying endurance nutrition, listening to experienced riders and testing out different food combinations for my endurance rides. What I found out is this…eating during endurance rides can do two things…
1. Eating can get out of control by taking in too many calories depending on what I choose to eat.
2. Eating can get very expensive if you buy supplements, sports nutritional products, etc…
So what I’ve come up with is a way to calculate my calories burned / consumed and a way to track the food items I’ve eaten; broken down to the cost per ride. This way I can keep more control over the amount of food I eat, what I eat and what it costs me each ride. After all, I’ve gotten into bicycling because after the initial bike investment, it should be relatively free to ride (not counting service or repair costs), so why blow all my extra money on food while riding?!
Below is an image of what my spreadsheet looks like.
