24 hour fitness agassi sport. 8 am tuesday and thursdays. its a pretty hard class and "like" outdoor riding.

las vegas athletic club on flamingo and 215. 6am mondays same type of class. no cheerleading, no makeup, just hard work. great class if you have to be at work in the morning.

Thanks guys! What do you normally need to bring with you on a spin class...besides your legs and lungs? Do I need cycling shoes? I hate to say I never took a spin class before...but I've been very interested in it. Thanks!

you dont need the shoes but if you do, you will need the attachment for a spd style mountain bike cleat, single or multi release cleat. most bike shops will carry them. if you deside to use gym shoes, i recommend something with a stiffer sole like a cross trainer. gym clothes is fine, cycling shorts are recommended.

The question one must ask of themselfs is what they want to take away from a spin class????????????????

DannyK's class is yes for the advance rider ( I love it a real push and pull of your body ).
There are others Tuesday night at 7:00 pm and Wednesday night at 6:00 pm both are at the LVAC, 2 great intrustors both are cyclists and for you guys YES both instructors are eye candy. It helps ease the pain.

Hence the best instructors are those that do cycle, attend the classes and judge your self. A tip here is that you want someone to push you to your limits and beyond that.

airbornecyclist wrote:I've never liked instructors who try to make spinning like and outdoor ride. It's a group exercise class not a group ride through the countryside. Nobody tries to add a disco ball and Bud Lights to a group dance/aerobic class. I dont want to imagine i'm "chasing" Greg Lemond up the French mountainside. Just call it long slow distance(lsd) or intervals, or sprints.

i think roquecorreira, what airbornecyclist ment to say is that airborne doesnt like teachers to make their class pretend and imagine that they are riding up and down and around red rock or whatever. and what i meant was that i dont teach or allow jumping jacks, kareoke sing alongs, super out of control spinning without resistance classes, and my classes are more intended to work out the athlete/ cyclist and still be able to capture the general public. i still use layman ques just because we are still in a gym and not pounding eachother in the pavement outside, but its still good because when you are totally out of breath and dying, its hard to understand and calculate your zones if you are new.

Danny- Do you have to be a member of the gym to take one of your spin classes? Sounds like fun, but I'm not a member because I have a gym in my complex I can use.

I'm pretty sure you have to be a member to take a spin class in a gym, but you may be able to go for free once or twice if you're "trying it out". I just went for the first time today, and I can definitely see the benefit to cycling.

This is the schedule for classes at Gold's Gym on Lake Mead:
