Capriotti's to Red Rock Calico Basin and Back thru Mountains Edge
(Starting Zip: 89113) A ride starting/ending from the Capriotti's on Blue Diamond, near Cimarron. Take the 160 directly in to Red Rock and then ride all the way to Calico Basin. Be careful making that left turn into Calico. Take a look at the beautiful red rocks while making your way all the way to the end of the road where it dead ends. Come back the same way, but instead of crossing the 160 at Cimarron, make a right turn on Durango and work your way South into Mountains Edge and come back on Buffalo to the traffic light where you can safely cross over from there. Back to Capriotti's for a post-ride sandwich. NOTE: The route is very scenic, but you will be traveling on a busier stretch of road (Blue Diamond Road) for most of the ride. Keep that in mind if you don't like riding next to faster moving vehicle traffic.

Southern Highlands Ride into The Lakes and Back
(Starting Zip: 89141) Here are a couple ways to get you in and out of The Lakes from Southern Highlands. Lots of rides start from the Summerlin so if you want to ride to the start, this is the best route I've found so far to get into the Lakes and back.
BLV Thursday Night Menchie's FroYo Ride - Alternate C Group Route

Southern Highlands to Blue Diamond General Store
(Starting Zip: 89141) Starting at the Smith's Shopping Center on Cactus and Southern Highlands Parkway. Ride Decatur to Blue Diamond Highway and then all the way up the 160 into Red Rock to the Blue Diamond Store and back. Out and back route. I classified this route as moderate because of being on the 160 Blue Diamond Road... it's fairly busy with high moving traffic, so not necessarily the best route for a new rider or anyone that doesn't like riding with faster traffic.

This route map displays the 103 Mile Extreme option. This ride is the most challenging with approximately 5600 ft of climbing; you pedal through 4 state parks, 2 old west towns, and up Pioche Hill. Since you went uphill on the way most the return is downhill!
Park to Park Pedal 2013 60 Mile Option
(Starting Zip: 89008) Starting and ending in Kershaw-Ryan State Park, the Park to Park Pedal is one of Nevada's most beautiful and best supported rides. This is the route for the 60 Mile Double Jack. A more moderate challenge, this ride does include Pioche Hill which is approximately 1400 ft of climb in about 10 miles. Once you hit the old mining town of Pioche it is all downhill from there! You see 2 state parks and 2 old west towns along the way.

M to Jean + Southern Highlands Democracy Loop Option

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS DEMOCRACY LOOP Option: For those of you who want to add on some more mileage and some pretty challenging climbs, you can add on the Southern Highlands Democracy Loop option. I believe this will add another 15 miles to the ride, but it's a really pretty, scenic ride through a nice neighborhood in Southern Highlands/Henderson. Total ride distance will be 45 miles total if you do both the Jean and Democracy Loop option.

Valley of Fire: Indian Casino to White Domes
(Starting Zip: 89025) This is one beautiful ride! Starts out at the Indian Casino Parking Lot Interstate 15 Exit 75 (Valley of Fire Exit off the I-15) Moapa, NV 89025. We ride into Valley of Fire State Park (bicyclists must pay $3 entry fee) which is very scenic and beautiful. You will feel like you've landed on Mars with all of the gorgeous red rocks! Then, we ride through the park to the Visitors Center road and up Mouse's tank (one steep little 1/4 mile hill) and into the rolling hills of White Domes. There's a picnic area at White Domes so you can pack a light snack to eat while you re-group. If you run out of water, the Visitors Center has a spigot outside the building on the left side. This is one of my favorite rides... but don't do it alone and NEVER in the heat of the summer!!! It gets way too hot at Valley of Fire. Also, a SAG support vehicle is highly suggested on this route (for less experienced riders or in the summer heat), as it is very deserted and if you have a mechanical, you're stuck. NOTE: Some roads have little to no shoulder. Please use caution when riding and watch out for vehicle traffic.

Also, a SAG support vehicle is highly suggested on this route, as it is very deserted and if you have a mechanical, you're stuck. NOTE: Some roads have little to no shoulder. Please use caution when riding and watch out for vehicle traffic.

Once we descend Potosi, we will pull into the gas station on the 160 at the bottom of the hill where we can safely cross over the road to the 159/Charleston Red Rock Reverse entrance. There we will ride thru scenic Red Rock, hopefully with a tailwind! hee hee. Once we reach Desert Foothills, we will turn right and head into the Red Rock Ranch Country Club area. This is a nice scenic neighborhood, a great way to end our ride as we then turn left on Desert Inn and head back to Starbucks for an ICED LATTE! :)
NOTE: This is not a beginners route. On Fort Apache, the road does get very narrow in some spots. You will also be riding on the 160 which has a shoulder with divets making it a harder road to ride on for a very long time.

Dunkin Donuts to Red Rock Scenic Loop to Mt. Potosi and Back
(Starting Zip: 89135) This is a challenging ride. You will want to warm up with a casual pace from the Dunkin Donuts to the entrance of the Scenic Looop. You want your legs to be warm before you attempt the loop. The Red Rock Scenic Loop is only a 13 mile loop, but the first four miles are a steep grade climb. There are tough climbs and fast descents...sure to please any road cyclist who loves a good challenge. When you exit the scenic loop, you will turn right and head towards the town of Blue Diamond. The climb to Potosi starts when you turn onto the Blue Diamond Hwy / 160. This is a constant climb for around 8 or 9 miles. Grades get as steep as 8 percent. The descent down will be fast. Watch for debris on the shoulder though. Turn back onto Charleston/159 and head straight back to the Dunkin Donuts. You have just completed one of the most challenging rides in town. We regroup at the top of Brenda's Hill, then head North up Hualapai and up another climb to Mesa Park, turning right at the top and stopping at the intersection of Town Center/Tropicana where we regroup once more. Now, the fun starts...we practice our pacelining technique and help each other climb to the top of Desert Foothills and Charleston. This map is for those guests who will be staying at the Mandalay Bay or Luxor Hotels. NOTES ABOUT THIS ROUTE: I've routed ALL the options in this ride in one convenient route map. You'll start off at the hotel and will travel west on Hacienda all the way to the end, turn right on Durango (be careful on this road...you will only be on it for a small amount of time). Then, I will take you the back way (safer route) to Red Rock via the Red Rock Country Club area. Once you reach 159/W. Charleston, turn left -takes you into Red Rock. The first right turn off the 159 takes you to Calico Basin where you will find a nice picnic area and hiking trails. There are also bathrooms if you need it. Then, get back onto the 159 and turn right and head to the Red Rock Scenic Loop. THIS IS A 13 MILE LOOP INSIDE THE VISITORS CENTER AREA. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT...this is just a warning! lol... if you don't want to do the loop, just bypass it until you reach the next rest stop...the Scenic Overlook parking lot. This is a great place to stop if you need it because there are shaded picnic tables, a bathroom and then of course you get to take pics while you're there of the beautiful scenery. Exit out of the scenic overlook by turning right and proceed on the 159 until you get to the town of Blue Diamond. This is a sleepy little town that has two things every cyclist needs: a bike shop for any repair/mechanical needs (Bike Outpost) and a General Store that offers free ice for your water bottles, snacks to refuel and a restroom. Lots of cyclists hang out there and use this as a 15-30 minute rest stop. Once you leave Blue Diamond, turn right again onto the 159 and head the whole way to the end of the road. Turn right onto the 160 / Blue Diamond Hwy and ride on that strip of road until you get to the first right turn. Avery. This will loop you back to the 159 where you will then take a left into the town of Blue Diamond to rest up at the General store and hit the bathroom and refuel before heading back the way you came. Reverse the directions for the way back from this point to get back to Mandalay Bay or Luxor Hotels.

(Starting Zip: 89134) This is the route we will take on the 2009 Halloween ride. Once we get to mile marker M, we will take Desert Inn to the Bike Path (Markers N - O should not be followed, it was the only way I could get the map to route over to marker P). From marker P till the end the route is again exact. Ride totals to approximately 20 miles.
VISITORS ROUTE: Suncoast/JW Marriott to Downtown Fremont Street
(Starting Zip: 89145) This is termed the Historic Red Rock to Downtown Route. This map is for those guests who will be staying at the Suncoast or J.W. Marriott Hotels. The route takes you East on Alta all the way downtown where you can then experience the Fremont Street Experience.
NOTES ABOUT THIS ROUTE: This is relatively downhill the whole way to downtown. Once you get into downtown be careful of the traffic, but make sure you ride to Fremont Street. The Fremont Street Experience is best viewed in the evening so be sure to bring your bicycle lights and prepare for night riding. If you don't feel comfortable riding at night, you can still do this during the day...I just happen to like downtown better at night. There's normally a band playing downtown in the evening and lots of people! You may have to walk your bike once you get there. This is more of a tourist ride...to take in the oldest section of the Las Vegas strip. On the way back, be prepared to ride uphill all the way back to the Suncoast.

Some decent hills along the way...one long pull as you enter the Torrey Pines Area...about 1-1/2 to 2 miles of a good climb...but it is fun on the way down....This route is definitely safer on the way back as it is very busy on the out route due to business & beach parking along the way...but the view is definitely worth the work

Feeling Adventurous on West Sahara
(Starting Zip: 89117) Every now and then I feel adventurous and want to ride more towards the central side of town. If you do this....pick a day like Sunday when there is light traffic. As it gets ultra busy on Rainbow.
(Starting Zip: 89115) You can start anywhere in Las Vegas if you choose, but the route starts on Las Vegas BLVD and Nellis, and you just head North on Las Vegas BLVD til..pretty much til whenever you want to turn around, I turn around after the first factory, but its a decent road and it just heads up the hill out of the valley towards Mesquite area, If you stop at the first factory its a good 30 mile ride there and back.

(Starting Zip: 89012) From Saxby's or JT's to Lake Las Vegas and back.
Procyclery's Holiday Route
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is the route for the ProCyclery Annual Holiday Ride. It wasn't 10-15 miles like they told me in the store, it was actually closer to 27 miles.
River Mountain Loop
(Starting Zip: 89002) Loop from Henderson / Equestrian Park around Lake Mead through Boulder City back to Henderson.
Alternate to this route would be to follow the River Mountain Trail starting from Equestrian Park. Some portions of the paved trail are not completed yet.
(Starting Zip: 89015) Nice little 10 miler. first 5 miles uphill...Second 5 flying back down.
Lake Mead to Charleston
(Starting Zip: 89015) Out is pretty good downhill and coming back will test your hill climbing.
6th to 6th
(Starting Zip: 89104) A Route that i do sometimes
Mesa Park to Blue Diamond Bike Outpost #2
(Starting Zip: 89135) This is an easier route that does NOT include the Red Rock Scenic Loop. I also chose to route you through the side roads of Summerlin versus taking Town Center to Charleston. This way, there's less traffic and an easier entrance into Red Rock.
Spring Valley Neighborhood Ride
(Starting Zip: 89103) Another ride around the Spring Valley area.
Spring Valley Loop
(Starting Zip: 89103) This is a casual loop ride you can take with your family or just use it as a training loop for your spinerval exercises. The only thing about this ride is crossing Rainbow...so I would recommend if you are taking a family ride that you do it on a Sunday morning when there is less traffic.
Sunday Recovery Ride
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is a ride I sometimes do if I want to recover from a challenging ride I did the day before. I call it a recovery ride because it's pretty much downhill all the way to Mandalay Bay, then you can just work out a steady cadence on the way back up. You can park your car at the starting point which is Desert Breeze Park.
The Lakes and Summerlin #3
(Starting Zip: 89117) Another way to vary your route along The Lakes and Summerlin.
The Lakes, Summerlin & Southwest Las Vegas #1
(Starting Zip: 89117) This ride starts at the picturesque area of The Lakes. If you're not familiar with this area, cross streets are Sahara and Crystal Water Way. Then I take you through Summerlin and Southwest Las Vegas and back to the Lakes area. This is a nice ride, has a little bit of everything. Downhills, uphills and flats.
The Lakes and Summerlin #2
(Starting Zip: 89117) Another great ride around the Lakes and Summerlin area.
The Lakes and Summerlin #1
(Starting Zip: 89117) This ride starts at the Lakes area and heads into Summerlin and back.
SW Las Vegas to Blue Diamond / Red Rock
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is an alternate route that has much less traffic than going straight down Durango. You can start at the Starbucks on Hualapai & Desert Inn - 3370 S. Hualapai Way.
Red Rock to Downtown
(Starting Zip: 89135) This is a route that most of you should be familiar with. It's a straight shoot down(hill) on Alta all the way to downtown...then a back up(hill) to Red Rock. The cool thing about this route is the bike path has built in sensors for cyclists so the light will change faster if you land on it. (I will normally ride down to Neonopolis or Golden Nugget, then turn around and come back.)
Southwest Las Vegas #1
(Starting Zip: 89117) I like to ride around the Southwest section of town. This is a great ride with some challenging hills and good scenery. You can start at the Starbuck's on Hualapai and Desert Inn.
Desert Shores #1
(Starting Zip: 89128) This is a pretty easy ride along the Desert Shores Community. Great for Sunday family rides or just casual recreational rides.
(Starting Zip: 89108) fairly easy riding
Red Rock to Blue Diamond
(Starting Zip: 89135) This route is a popular weekend ride here in Vegas. Normally cyclists will meet up at Albertson's or
Starbuck's on Charleston. For this route, I will start it at the Albertson's which is fairly closer to the Red Rock Entrance. We will ride to the Bike Outpost in Blue Diamond. There you can fuel up, rest and then ride back. The return hill is pretty challenging but it's a beautiful ride!!
The Lakes #2 - Easy Casual Ride
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is a great route that is easy to do and perfect for beginners. You can park at the 'A' marker inside the parking lot if you are driving here. The scenery is pretty and would make for a great biking date as well. :)
Red Rock Scenic Loop
(Starting Zip: 89124) This is the Red Rock scenic loop inside the Red Rock Visitors Center. If you ride in on a bike, you do not have to pay an entrance fee.
Commute to some casino on Silverado Ranch
(Starting Zip: 89030) Much older area of town. Start at Owens and Mojave, South on Mojave. Cut through Sunset Park to Eastern, south to Warm springs. West to Bermuda, and on to Silverado Ranch.
Tropical and Losee
(Starting Zip: 89081) The start is at Tropical and Losee. Head North on Tropical till you get to Tenaya. This is an up and back. The ride is about 8 miles one way with a slight up hill. If you take a right on Tenaya, and go about another half mile you are right next to South West Bicycle. There is hardly any traffic on this road. There are also spots where the shoulder of the road is nice and wide.
******Also this is the 89081 Zip code, the website did not see this as a valid zip code so I had to put in a zip code it reconized! *******
The Lakes to Sun City #1
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is one of the best routes I stumbled across one early morning last summer. If you like a good downhill, this route has it.
Route starts at the Einstein Bagels at 9031 W. Sahara, then goes thru the Lakes, to Town Center, to Anasazi up to Sun City. Then the downhill thru Sun City. WATCH OUT FOR GOLF CARTS WHILE FLYING DOWN THE HILL. Once you get to the bottom of the hill, turn right onto Del Webb, straight across Lake Mead then into the back roads of Summerlin and back thru the Lakes.
The Lakes #1 - Training & Race Circuit
(Starting Zip: 89117) This is a looping route that is great for training, spinerval exercises, and is also used as a racing circuit throughout the cycling season.
I have created the route to start inside the loop. If you are driving to it, you can park on the side roads.
